Happy Valley
Lafayette

Happy Valley is a hillside neighborhood in northwest Lafayette, strung along Happy Valley Road and Upper Happy Valley Road between downtown Lafayette and the Orinda line. It is a neighborhood of custom homes rather than tracts, with winding roads, mature trees and some of the larger lots in Lamorinda.

The homes

Happy Valley grew up as custom homes on individual lots rather than as a single subdivision, so the mix is wide: ranches, contemporaries and larger estates, from 1960s originals to architect-designed rebuilds. Most roads are narrow and winding, without sidewalks.

Amy has been part of 13 Happy Valley sales. Across those homes, the typical house was about 3,600 square feet with four bedrooms, ranging from roughly 2,000 to 4,900 square feet.

Schools

Most of Happy Valley is in the attendance area for Happy Valley Elementary School at 3855 Happy Valley Road, part of the Lafayette School District. Students then attend Stanley Middle School and usually Acalanes High School in the Acalanes Union High School District.

Attendance areas can change and can vary near the edges, so confirm a specific address with the Lafayette School District.

Getting around

Happy Valley Road runs down to downtown Lafayette, the Lafayette BART station and Highway 24, about two miles from the heart of the neighborhood. Orinda is a short drive west, and most errands mean getting in the car.

Parks and the outdoors

The neighborhood backs toward the open hills that lead up to Briones Regional Park, and the Lafayette Reservoir and downtown Lafayette's parks are a short drive away.
