Glorietta
Orinda

Glorietta sits in southeast Orinda, east of Moraga Way, along Glorietta Boulevard toward the Lafayette Reservoir. It was once an unincorporated community of its own. Much of it is flatter than the rest of Orinda, and it is almost entirely single-family homes, many first built in the 1940s through the 1960s.

The homes

Glorietta is one of the most uniformly single-family parts of Orinda. Many houses started as ranch-style homes from the postwar decades, and a lot of them have since been expanded, remodeled or rebuilt.

Amy has been part of 55 Glorietta sales. Across those homes, the typical house was about 2,600 square feet with four bedrooms, ranging from roughly 1,300 to 4,600 square feet. Where lot size was listed, lots ran from about a third of an acre to three quarters of an acre.

Schools

Most of Glorietta is in the attendance area for Glorietta Elementary School (TK to 5) at 15 Martha Road, part of the Orinda Union School District. Students then move on to Orinda Intermediate School (6 to 8) at 80 Ivy Drive and usually to Miramonte High School in the Acalanes Union High School District.

Attendance areas can change and can vary near the edges, so confirm a specific address with the Orinda Union School District.

Getting around

Moraga Way connects Glorietta to downtown Orinda, the Orinda BART station and Highway 24, about a mile and a half from the heart of the neighborhood. Rheem Boulevard leads east toward Moraga, and Lafayette is a short drive over the hill.

Parks, swim and tennis

Meadow Swim & Tennis Club on Heather Lane was founded in 1955 and has a six-lane pool with a dive well, four tennis courts and a summer swim team.

The Lafayette Reservoir Recreation Area borders Glorietta to the east, with the 2.7-mile paved Lakeside Trail, the 4.5-mile Rim Trail, rowboat and pedal boat rentals, and fishing.
